A Very Brief Testimony

I was born in Flint, Michigan, raised in that factory town during the turbulent sixties. My parents worked third shift. I basically never saw much of them. My family had some special challenges. I didn't have any religious upbringing. By the time I graduated high school, I was a verbal, defiant atheist. I was drunk for my high school graduation. I graduated with a 1.7 on a 4 point scale. My counselor basically told me I was too dumb to go to college. Later in the Michigan woods, largely due to the influence of a couple of wonderful Christian families and a friend, I became a Christian in a quiet prayer to Jesus next to a log.

After I became a Christian, I graduated seven more times, with two certificates, AA, AAS, BS, MS, MA, and Ed.S. My IQ score jumped over 50 points. Go God! I have a quarter of a century of formal education and the one thing I know for sure is that all of us together know nothing unless we first know Jesus.

Because I was an atheist and evolutionist I have been since 1968 studying apologetics talking to people about Christ. The best seminary, although I have been to seminary, is the praetorium* of the world especially for apologetics.

One of the best ways to grow as an apologist is to talk to people about Christ. When they have an objection or question to which you do not know the answer to admit it. Write down their contact information. Find out the answer and get back to them with the answer. Repeat this process over and over and eventually there will be few and fewer challenging questions. Add to that reading the best books on apologetics. There are many lists.
